She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1978 to 1985 and was a member of Gryffindor House. She was a friend of Tabitha Nettle's. She was a first cousin of Gwenog Jones, Captain of the Holyhead Harpies.

After leaving school, she trained to become a Healer and worked for a branch of St. Mungo's Hospital, beginning in 1990. When the Second Wizarding War broke out in 1995, she joined the Order and volunteered to become apart of the Advance Guard.

Biography

Early life (1967-1995)

Hestia Jones was born into the Jones family on 8 April, 1967, in the village of Llandyfrydog, on the Isle of Anglesey, Wales. Llandyfrydog is a relatively small village in the community of Rhosybol, in north-west Wales. It was home to an extremely small wizarding population amongst many muggles.

Among Hestia's family members was Gwenog Jones, her first cousin, who would later become a player, Chaser, and Captain of the Holyhead Harpies.

Hestia Jones began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1978, during the First Wizarding War, and was placed into Gryffindor House on 1 September, 1978, during the school's Sorting Ceremony. Her cousin Gwenog had already begun school the previous year, in 1977.

She left the school in 1985 upon completing her seventh year of school, after having achieved a large amount of N.E.W.T.s.

Employment

Hestia Jones began Healer training in 1985 after leaving Hogwarts, which she completed in 1990, at the age of twenty-two. She became employed in hospice care at St. Mungo's, and her patients were mainly elderly wizards and witches, at old homes such as St. Oswald's, though there were always the few exceptions.

Second Wizarding War (1995-1998)

Hestia joined the reconstituted Order of the Phoenix after the return of Lord Voldemort. She was among the members of the Advance Guard, a group of members of the Order who had volunteered to escort Harry Potter safely from the house of his aunt and uncle at 4 Privet Drive in Surrey to their headquarters at 12 Grimmauld Place in London.

Whilst examining the Dursley's kitchen, she came across a potato peeler in a drawer and found it was immensely funny. A few days later, Hestia borrowed Alastor Moody's invisibility cloak after relieving Kingsley Shacklebolt of guard duty and stood watch over the entrance of the Department of Mysteries in order to prevent Death Eaters from entering the area to steal a prophecy Lord Voldemort wished to get a hold of.

She fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, which took place on 2 May, 1998, along with the other members of the Order.

Etymology

Hestia was named after the Greek goddess Hestia, who was the goddess of the hearth and of the right ordering of domesticity and the family.

Jones is a common surname of English and Welsh origins, meaning "John's son".
