Serena Stanhope (born 22 March, 1970) was an English half-blood witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1 September, 1981 to June of 1988. She was a member of the Stanhope family and for a brief time she was dating Edwin Tofty. She went missing during the Second Wizarding War.
She worked as a member of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures from the age of eighteen until around August, 1997, when she failed to return to work. Eventually it was discovered that she had gone into hiding while failing to inform the members of her family.

Early life[]
Serena Stanhope was born on 22 March, 1970, in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England. She was a member of the Stanhope family. Her father was a muggle-born wizard.
Hogwarts years[]
She received her Hogwarts letter in the summer of 1981, during the height of the First Wizarding War. That same summer. On 1 September, 1981, she boarded the train for Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin House that same night. In her fifth year of school she was made Prefect.
In her final year of school she was appointed Head Girl alongside Edwin Tofty, a fellow student who was appointed Head Boy. They began dating at some point in 1988.
They broke up in 1993.
Later life[]
Stanhope began work within the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the Ministry of Magic after she finished school. She continued to work there until August of 1997. She left her job and went missing during the Second Wizarding War.

Etymology[]
The name Serena comes from a Late Latin name that was derived from Latin serenus meaning "clear, tranquil, serene". This name was borne by an obscure early saint. Edmund Spenser also used it in his poem The Faerie Queene (1590).
Stanhope is an English surname of medieval origins, meaning 'a dweller on a stony ridge'.
